CIRCALGAE Final Event: four years of results and innovation

After four years of research, collaboration and innovation, CIRCALGAE reached its final milestone on 21–22 September 2026 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The CIRCALGAE Final Event brought together project partners, experts and stakeholders to share the project’s final results and reflect on the future of the European algae sector.

And four years later, the initial ambition has become tangible: research has been transformed into concrete prototypes and applications, demonstrating the potential of algae biomass and side-streams for food, feed, cosmetics and other high-value products.

From project results to future opportunities

Day 1 : brought together the consortium to connect the results achieved across the different Work Packages and reflect on four years of CIRCALGAE.

Day 2 : opened the discussion to a wider audience through three expert panels: Securing Europe’s Algae Resources, Building Integrated Algae Value Chains and From Innovation to Market. An interactive product showcase and a final discussion on the future of Europe’s algae bioeconomy completed the programme.

These exchanges also highlighted what comes next: scaling up technologies, strengthening value chains, reaching markets and continuing collaboration across European projects.
